It's finally here and we can all join in the fun and play the game we've all been waiting for.
That's right the UT3 demo is being played and to keep with the flow we have some new forums available HERE and we also have a Jolt UT3 server up and running.
IP: 78.33.17.18
I am sure more servers will follow shortly so keep your eyes open.
I shall be seeing you on there for lots of gaming fun shortly.
Send in your amusing screenshots (from any online PC game - UT2004 would of course be an awesome choice) and we'll give you £50 if we like it enough!
The competition will be running monthly, with this month's theme being the spirit of online gaming (your guess is as good as ours on what that means). You don't need to be a UK citizen to take part. For more details on how to enter, hit this.
Along with the recent news of public server upgrades, we are pleased to announce an improved and expanded public server lineup. CTF2 makes a welcome return on lightning fast hardware, and the following servers have also been added:
» Freon 1: This well-designed mod combines the best features of TAM and Freeze Tag resulting in some great games.
» Assault 2: Race maps are the order of the day on Assault 2, with a wide range of the most popular maps available for voting.
» Onslaught 3: Coinciding with CB's upcoming 3on3 ONS Spring Cup, this server offers teams a great chance to practice their 3on3 skills.
Over the past few weeks, our public servers have undergone a number of significant upgrades designed to improve the quality of our service.
Whilst most of these upgrades have taken place behind the scenes, players will now notice the following:
» Team balancing
When a team that isn't losing has 2+ players more than the other, a message will be sent to players advising them of the situation. If this message is ignored, the teams will automatically be balanced by switching back the last person to change team, or moving the newest joiner.
» Exploit fixes
A number of in-house fixes have been applied to prevent malicious players from crashing servers. Also, flag glitch attempts on FaceClassic are now prevented and logged.
» Idle kicking
The built-in idle kicking feature has been improved by also detecting players who have spawned but been idle for 3 minutes.
» Admin improvements
The admin team now has access to more player information than ever before, including player session and chat history. We are able to act on this information by muting, kicking or banning players. Our rules are common sense, but please ensure you are familiar with them!
Jolt is pleased to be able to offer a fantastic special offer on its SuperÜberServer range of dedicated machines!
These machines, sporting dual 2.66 Xeon processors, 4GB of RAM and full Windows Remote Desktop access are available immediately at the reduced price of under £100/month (€150). The only requirement is that 3 months are purchased in advance.
This server is running the latest version of TAM (3.141 at the time of writing) along with a number of popular stock and custom maps on mapvote. Enjoy!
Any suggestions for improvements to this, or any of our other public servers, are welcome at quikshot@jolt.co.uk
